Raising awareness among teenagers
about the circular economy

Discover the Circular Economy Collage workshop in a version adapted to the questions of middle and high school students. Interspersed with questions, this collaborative workshop allows young people to reflect on the stages of the life cycle of the objects around them, from their manufacture to their end of life as waste. This workshop addresses issues related to the natural use of resources and explores actions to reduce waste and conserve resources.
How to organise a workshop?

Workshop description

The workshop lasts 2 hours and is led by a facilitator trained in this format, accompanied by one or more adults to assist with supervision. We recommend an average of one adult for every 14 young people.

The "Youth" version of the game is also available in English and can be used as a teaching tool to develop oral expression and reading comprehension skills in modern languages, for example.

Why choose
The Circular Economy Collage Youth?

Multidisciplinary

The topics covered in the workshop promote a multidisciplinary approach to the issues. The cross-cutting approach made possible by the format allows for the development of a systemic vision that combines different perspectives (history, economics, technology, life sciences, etc.).

Critical thinking

The workshop promotes exchange, argumentation, analysis and systemic vision and allows, by asking the right questions, to stimulate critical thinking and taking a step back.

Orientation

The “Future in hand” extension allows for the continuation of the reflections initiated during the Youth workshop to discover the jobs of the future and to make the link with the young people’s career guidance project.

FAQ
A few answers
to your questions

What is the principle behind the ‘Youth’ workshop ?

This adaptation of the workshop is shorter and corresponds to the questions that young people may be asking themselves. The workshop takes place in small groups, using cards to encourage reflection on the use of natural resources, our consumption patterns, our needs and the limits imposed by the linear economy.

The strength of the workshop lies in:
- the use of collective intelligence, which makes it easier to take on board the messages
- its fun format to get participants on board
- its scientific reliability: the data comes from leading reports: ADEME and UNEP.

Who is the Circular Economy Collage ‘Youth’ version aimed at ?

This ‘'youth’' version workshop is aimed primarily at children from 10 to 15 years old, and can be used both in and out of school.

How long does the ‘Youth’ Circular Economy Collage workshop last ?

The ‘Youth’ workshop is designed to last 2 hours, including a short break.

The workshop is divided into several phases:
- an ice-breaker introduction
- a 1st part of reflection in small groups using the cards on the linear economy and its limits
- a time for creativity and synthesis on the 1st subject
- a phase on the circular economy with the ‘solutions’ cards, to be completed by the ideas and experiences of the pupils.

A guidance module on new professions can be added to the workshop to support the young people's reflections on their future and their projects.

How many people can attend a ‘Youth’ workshop ?

Unlike a lecture, the workshop is based on a game format involving small groups (6 students per group), mobilising collective intelligence. An experienced facilitator can manage 2 groups, i.e. 12 students. To begin with, we recommend that there should always be one adult per group to keep the children focused (teacher, supervisory or administrative staff).
